Day 13

ABANDONED DEVOTION:

Creative Praise:

In response to the following Scripture, sing a song of praise to Jesus, draw Him a picture, or write Him a poem.

Though the fig tree should not blossom and there be no fruit on the vines, though the yield of the olive should fail and the fields produce no food, though the flock should be cut off from the fold and there be no cattle in the stalls, yet I will exult in the Lord, I will rejoice in the God of my salvation.  The Lord God is my strength, and He has made my feet like hinds’ feet, and makes me walk on high places.” (Habakkuk 3:17)

3-Stage Bible Study:  Read the Q—Analyze the Verse—Write Your Response

How did Daniel express his inner feelings?  Write a description of when you were spiritually hungry.  What did you do about it?[i]

“In those days I, Daniel, was mourning three full weeks.  I ate no pleasant food, no meat or wine came into my mouth, nor did I anoint myself at all, till three whole weeks were fulfilled.” (Daniel 10:2-3)

Prayer Journal Questions: Listen to the Lord as you meditate on the following verses.

What are sins that God is showing you that need to be confessed in your life and in your generation?

“I acknowledged my sin to You, and my iniquity I have not hidden. I said, ‘I will confess my transgressions to the LORD,’ and You forgave the iniquity of my sin. (Psalm 32:5)

What are ways you can pray for and pursue revival on your campus?

“When the Day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind…And when this sound occurred, the multitude came together, and were confused…” (Acts 2:1-6)

GLOBAL PROCLAMATION:

Forgotten People Group: The Moors of Senegal

The term "Moor" is generally applied to any person, regardless of skin color, who speaks one of the Hassaniya dialects. Therefore, there are both black and white Moors who speak the same language. This language, in its purest form, draws heavily from the original Yemeni Arabic spoken by the Bani Hassan tribe, which invaded northwest Africa during the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries.

What Are Their Beliefs?
The Moors of Senegal are 100% Sunni (orthodox) Muslims who follow the Malikite tradition. Islam is based on the teachings of Mohammed. Their holy book, the Koran, was said to have been given to Mohammed by the angel Gabriel.

There are five essential duties in Islam: to affirm that there is no god but Allah, and Mohammed is his prophet; to pray five times a day while facing Mecca; to give alms generously; to observe prescribed fasts; and to try to make at least one pilgrimage to Mecca.

The Moors acknowledge two main Islamic brotherhoods: the Qadiri and the Tajani. The Qadiri is the most widespread group and is characterized by many secret societies that are saturated with mysticism.

What Are Their Needs?
At the present time, both the Black Moor and the White Moor have been targeted by missions agencies and numerous Christian resources are available in the Hassani language. Unfortunately, there has been little response to the Gospel. Today, there are no known Black or White Moor believers in Senegal. Prayer is the key to seeing them reached with the Gospel.

Prayer Points

  • Pray that God will grant wisdom and favor to the missions agencies that are targeting the Moors.
  • Ask the Holy Spirit to soften the hearts of the Moors towards Christians so that they will be receptive to the Gospel.
  • Pray that God will open the hearts of Senegal's governmental leaders to the Gospel.
  • Ask the Holy Spirit to anoint the Gospel as it goes forth via radio to the Moors of Senegal.
  • Take authority over the spiritual principalities and powers that are keeping the Moors bound.
  • Ask God to raise up prayer teams who will begin breaking up the soil through worship and intercession.
  • Pray that God will begin revealing Himself to these Muslim tribes through dreams and visions.
  • Ask the Lord to raise up strong local churches among the Moors by the year 2010.

Promise from Scripture:

“But indeed for this purpose I have raised you up, that I may show My power in you, and that My name may be declared in all the earth.” Exodus 9:16

Generational Barrier:

Walking in the Will of God – Colossians 1:9 tells us that it is God’s will that we might know His will with clarity and not find ourselves playing a guessing game concerning His will. Pray that the emerging generation might, “be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding.”

Prayer Journaling Response:

Take a few moments to record thoughts, prayers, and any insight. Also, it is often helpful to record how the Lord led in prayer – Scriptures, mental pictures, or a word or thought. Practice not only praying but also listening to the Lord. As we understand how the Lord is leading us, we can more quickly tune into the Lord’s voice when we have major decisions facing us or in times when the Lord feels far from us.
