STRATEGIC FOCUS -  CHURCH PLANTING

Church planting is the goal of longer term missions: to see maturing body of local believers worshiping Christ and reaching out to their community.  If you drive a couple miles down the main street in your community, how many churches will you pass?  Three?  Five?  More than five?

Did you know that in many parts of the world, you could drive for hundreds or thousands of miles, and never find a church?  There are still 1.6 billion people in the world that do not have a church in their town or community.  Below are some mission opportunities that can help train you to plant churches amongst the Forgotten.

Program Description:   Locations Available: Worldwide	In 1964 (in the shadow of President Kennedy’s Peace Corps), the International Mission Board wanted to provide Southern Baptist recent college graduates a way to work with career missionaries; to learn the "tools of the trade. Once the tools are in hand, the Journeyman program is a seedbed for career missionaries.  Young men and women who are willing to accept two years of overseas service are making an eternal impact on an ever-changing world.

Program Description:   Locations Available Over 50 locations worldwide	Whether it's mercy ministry, university ministry, medical ministry, working with street children, or training leaders, all of MTW's work is designed to advance Reformed church-planting movements around the world. As a church-planting movement develops among a geographic or ethnic group, vibrant, nationally-led churches will multiply, transforming the culture around them. MTW is working in over 50 countries and sending missionaries on short-term (2 weeks to 3 years) and long-term (4 years plus) assignments.

Program Description:   Locations Available: All over Africa	TIMO is a two-year missionary training program with a team approach to learning and outreach.  A TIMO team consists of a group of 6-10 new missionaries led by a veteran missionary or missionary couple for the purposes of learning and doing missionary outreach.  The team lives among an unreached people group, learning their language and culture and allowing God to provide ways of sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ with them.
